About Founder of District market Green Grocer
Robert Thomas, Founder of District market Green Grocer, has always had a passion for nutrition. So when the Pandemic shut down his nightclub, he owned and operated for five years in the Outskirts of Houston, TX. He turned the district 1960 nightclub into District Market Green Grocer when the Pandemic happened.
“There were long lines outside of the grocery store during the Pandemic this result into creation of popup shops and farmers market. I began to say to myself why aren’t these products are not in big block stores. This gives me an idea to create a place for these small business owners to sell their products. It took me more than six months to open the first black-owned grocery store in Houston, Tx. This was a dream for me, and I kept dreaming big in future. My plan is to take District Market Green Grocer to the whole country, and this online store is the first step towards my goal.”
District market Green Grocer Houston’s first black-owned supermarket and juice bar. Inside the store located on cypress creek parkway. You’ll find fruits, veggies, and products from up to 40 vendors, all locally produced and black-owned. That is just the beginning, and Robert Thomas aims to turn it into an international supermarket.
